How do you want people to support a Fugitive. This is the same guy who swindled many Asians and you are supporting him. I thought we are supposed to be an ethical organization. When you are Asian we are under microscope. At the same time pl's Don't Forget To Follow campaign Laws. Having money donated under other names, is considered Money Laundering. And this is not the end of this story. Peter Singh. For commenting on #26
DEAR READERS: You may want to read the following interesting interchange between me and Mr. Singh. They show how Asian Ams are really beginning to work together even when we at first disagree with each other. Mr. Singh: Do you always comment on other's email, WITHOUT FIRST READING IT? We didn't support Hsu at all. Read before you speak! SB For commenting on #27
Mr. Wioo: I know ! I also would like it better if you address e/mails politely rather than telling me off ! My apology for not reading through. Also it will be appropriate to back Candidate who is better chance of winning and working with them for enlightening our course in future. Thanks. Peter For commenting on #28
Dear Peter: It is really magnamous of you to admit that you didn't through my email before you commented. :-) My apologies for being rude and "told you off." 80-20 believes that commitment from a candidate to help the Asian Am. community is the most important factor. After that comes the consideration of the likelihood that a candidate will winning. Once a candidate gets into the White House, there is NO chance whatsoever that he/she will still work with you. He/She iwll have ... more ...
Mr. Woo, Did not know why my previous reply from DuPont email was encrypted. I just want to let you know that I have been following your emails and appreciate your suggestions. The Hsu case was featured on Wall Street Journal over the weekend. It did not clarify what exactly the wrong doing is. Can you explain a little more? For commenting on #24
Hsu was NOT arrested for a direct violation of the campaign finance law. After he became known as 1 of the 10 biggest donors to Democratic causes, Wall Street Journal published an article about him. That publicity led to the knowledge that he was under arrest warrant in Calif. That then led to politicians shunning him. Thus far that is the only legal reason that he wass in trouble. Besides that, there is suspicion that he might be using other people's name but his money in order to bypass c ... more ...
Dear Dr Wu. Here is an incident reported on the popular radio talk show last night. The talk show host Michael Savage was speaking strongly for Ed Jew. 80-20 should mobilize its force in the Bay area to look into this and may support this Asian American. Best Regards Eric Zhang For commenting on #22
Dear Eric: I don't know anything about the "Ed Jew" matter. Please email Joel Wong who is the person in charge of looking into such matters. joelwong@comcast.net Thanks. SB For commenting on #23
There are many good Senators and Congressmen.Congresswomen are elected without larger campain funds. They show that they were won by votes not funds. Senator Biden will be another example. Clinton will be overcome by John Edwards, Joe Biden easily. Chinese Americans need to fight Equal Rights first to survive or live better. Keep Good work ! Hui For commenting on #21
I agree with comment #19. If there is strong evidence that N.Hsu, in fact, is a fugitive, then the issue is really how the media is handling his arrest, as opposed to his being arrested. I do feel a virulent need by the media to criticize and demonize China and feel Norman Hsu's arrest could be a campaign by Republicans to link the Democrats with illegal Asian money, and thereby feed on the anti-Asian sentiment. The timing is too obvious. My last name is "Hsu" and I noticed this week ... more ...
Some media guru, I think, ought to probe into the intricasies of this scandal, and make a number of fine diffeentiations: (a) Norman Hsu the businessman accused of being fraudulant and Norman Hsu the fundraiser and generous contributor to politicians are two separate persons that must NOT be confused; (b) Like anyone else, Norman Hsu the accused should be presumed innocent until proven guilty through the proper judicial proceedings; (c) Whatever his fault, even when proven, Norman Hsu shoul ... more ...

Dear S. B. Do you have any more information about N. Hsu? Today's Wall Street Journal headline states that he has been arrested? And any information about the related Paw family? Does it not seems to be a usual scandal? Hsu's business is based in Hong kong. Is he oringanlly from H.K. or from the mainland? Or from Taiwan? What could be his motivation in making such type of generous political fund raising efforts? Just curious. Richard Chu For commenting on #14
Dear Richard: Good questions. Many others will likely be interested in their answers. So I am answering you thru. this poster board. 1) Hsu turned himself in, was arrest, and then freed on bail ($2,000,000) See "Fugitive Fundraiser Hsu Jailed ..." - The Los Angeles Times, 8/31/07 http://www.latimes.com/business/la-na-hsu1sep01,1,4862233.story. 2) The Paw family is now living in an unknown location other than their home in NY 3) This scandals will die out unless it can be shown that the ... more ...
The messages are loud and clear. And yes, I now know who Norman Hsu is. You are right on the money. Keep up the good work and I will catch up with you soon. Best, Henry For commenting on #13
Chinese have an old saying "????? ????" (If those in power need to criminalize somebody, they can always find a name). American's legal system is clearly more fair and fine tuned than the Chinese system. But could politics still have a hand in case like Hsu's? If he was a Jewish American, will he be treated differently? DZ For commenting on #11
Jewish Ams and indeed the entire Jewish Am community take politics extremely seriously. A Jewish Am, especially a big donor and a fundraiser, is extremely unlikely to be as ignorant about the campaign finance law as many of the AsAms fundraisers were. On the other hand Jewish Ams community has political clout, and we don't. Could that made a difference in the real world? Of course. We only have ourselves to balme however. Most Jewish Americans give generously to its public service and poli ... more ...
Hsu's case also appears to be a case that Asian Americans, the immigrants in particular, are not very (knowledgeable) about the law of this country. If Hsu donated money to 80-20 which in turn donated money to Clinton, will 80-20 be put under a negative light as well after Hsu's felony offense came to light? thanks Dezheng For commenting on #9
A good question! Normally no. Since Hsu's giving to 80-20 is one decision and 80-20's giving to Hillary are two independent decisions. Indeed, if Hsu were to give to 80-20 Educational Foundation, then given EF's record in educating Asian Ams in politics, the media may even come to a conclusion that Hsu has served some redeeming function. Note that the politicians were giving their "Hsu money" to public service orgs. 80-20 EF which educates AsAms regarding Am. politics will be one ... more ...

Thank you so much for your kind words. May I ask you to consider joining 80-20 as a a member, indeed perhaps as a Life Member? Judging from your title, I have financial difficulty to join as a member. Forgive me for speaking in such a straight forward manner. My same quality/defect is what enables me to send out messages which you said that you liked. We need help in words as well in deeds. Thank you. SB For commenting on #6
Very good email. Would be even better if you supply the links for those newspapers articles. I consider myself pretty wellread. Still, until your email, I know nothing about Norman Hsu. Several months ago you started your coaching series with this email explaining about how a presidential nominees are elected. I find that series very informative too. But maybe you can also explain what the primaries are and their importance? For commenting on #1
